Class Party

As we wrap up the end of the year we are going to celebrate with a hot dog lunch and water fight on Tuesday June 18. I will supply the hot dogs, buns, and condiments. Students are welcome to bring chips or other snack to have with lunch. After lunch we will head out onto the field and have a water gun fight. I have a class set of water cannons for us to use so no one needs to bring a water gun. Students will need to bring a change of clothes, a towel, and a pair of shoes that can get wet.

Final Assembly

On June 19th at 9:10 our department will be having our final assembly.  We will be handing out Term 2 citizenship awards, top 3 academic awards per grade and certificates to students who achieved an A average in our core subjects: Math, Language Arts, Socials and Science.  You are welcome to join us.

Upcoming Dates:

Friday, June 14th – Sports Day & noon Dismissal

Monday, June 17th – Cultus Lake Waterpark

Wednesday, June 19th – Last Day of Classes, noon dismissal

Klassen Farms

Good evening,

We had a great day at Klassen Farms today. They were very welcoming and provided us with amazing ice cream.

However, after we left we learned that a few toys that had been left out for visitors to use went missing. Three wooden trains were on the tables when we arrived and many students played with them, but when we left they were gone. Klassen Farms emailed us to tell us they were missing and we want to be sure that if they were taken that they get returned. As we are visitors in the community we want to make sure that we represent our school community with respect and integrity. If you could please ask your child if they saw them, we would very much like to return the toys to them.

End of the Year!

Plant Sale

Spring has sprung and we are excited to be partnering with DeVry Greenhouses again for another plant sale fundraiser.  We are offering planters, bedding plants, hanging baskets, herbs, and more through our school fundraising website.  You can buy your summer plants, and support the Highroad 40th Anniversary beautification project all at the same time.  How great is that?!  Visit the website below to see the options and place your order.  Students will also be coming home with information and price sheets.

Art Gala Info

We are excited about the upcoming Art Gala!  Below is some important information.

Reception:  We will have a reception area in the foyer of the church where we serve food and beverages.  We are asking each student to bring in one pan of brownies or square treats next Thursday morning.  They can be brought to the classroom.

Talent Show:  This next piece of information is for those who are part of our ‘talent show’:

Dear Parent(s),

The Talent Show is part of the Highroad Academy Intermediate Department Arts Gala on Thursday evening, April 11 at 6:30 pm in the Chapel.  Please feel free to invite friends and family to enjoy the show, which is expected to last about 30 minutes.

For those students performing, there will be a dress rehearsal at lunchtime on Wednesday, April 10, to practice working with the audio-visual, and practicing all the transitions between performers.

Students should continue to rehearse their performances regularly until the Talent Show.  I have encouraged those with speaking and singing parts to prepare to use their strongest voice, and be very animated with their voice and body. This is a special event, so students should wear their ‘Sunday best’; no uniform wear is required.

We have some lovely performances ready for your enjoyment.  See you then!
